The End of SciFi is Near - Speak Out!
Posted on 06.21.06 by John @ 6:26 am

What will the idiots do next?In light of my recent post about the SciFi channel (a channel supposedly devoted to science fiction programming) deciding on showing "an alternative brand of wrestling suited to fit the SCI FI Channel’s commitment to fuel the imagination", a friend of mine reminded me that you can send feedback to SciFi and tell them what you think about their programming. The page is http://www.scifi.com/feedback/ and the email address you want is feedback@scifi.com. Send them an email telling them that wrestling isn’t related to science fiction (unless its Godzilla doing the Tokyo stomp with a fellow monster) and you don’t want to see in their line up. Tell them you want science fiction programming, not stuff about ghost hunting or C rated movies about killer moths or black holes. Be polite and make sure you mention ECW so they don’t get confused, after all this might be read by a programming executive.

  1. Mike Says:

Reported for being an ENTIRELY misinformed article.

ECW Wrestling is not on Sci Fi because it’s the only station it could get on, or because SciFi is aiming to go another direction.

It is owned by the parent company that owns USA, and the company that owns ECW puts on a promotion called WWE, which is the biggest draw on the USA channel right now - the ECW brand is getting a try out on a random timeslot to see if it can get ratings enough to be put on USA.

And they chose a channel that deals with science fiction? Get real… Only an idiot woul… Oh yeah, we are talking about TV executives aren’t we. But you say that “ECW Wrestling is not on Sci Fi because it’s the only station it could get on,” and then you say “the ECW brand is getting a try out on a random time slot to see if it can get ratings enough to be put on USA.” I call BS on this. SciFi is owned by NBC Universal, they also own Bravo, A&E, USA Network, and a host of others. They might not have the ratings to get on USA but why did they choose SciFi? The programmers at SciFi should know that their viewers don’t want the network turned into a test bed for non-scifi programming.
BTW, I applaud your copy and paste technique. It must have taken you seconds to drop in the exact same comment you made on Digg. Thank you for not swearing, I would have deleted your comment if you had.
