How cool is that? The page is for ’science fiction authors who wanted a little scientific accuracy’ but the heck with that, I’m going to read this from ‘cover to cover’. [via retro thing, boingboing] If you want to read a few book by my favorite masters of scifi, go on over to Amazon and flex the credit chip.

While on the subject of polls, lets see what science fiction writer you are. Apparently I’m the late Frank Herbert. Not sure I fully agree with everything he wrote but I’m sure that I have not writen as much as he did. Still, I did like Dune.

I’m not sure that this is all that accurate but it’s close. Go have some fun and see how you rate.
Your Score: Centrist You scored 52% Personal Liberty and 43% Economic Liberty!
![]() A centrist believes in moderate government intervention in both personal and economic matters. They tend to be somewhat ambiguous, as they may have the oppurtunity to pick the side of any group surrounding them on any given issue. They generally believe in a moderate social safety net and what they consider to be a balanced stance on personal liberty. Centrists tend to emphasize compromise and cooperation between partisan groups. Link: The Politics Test written by brainpolice Filed under: Uncategorized Comments: None |

For too long we have been told lies. The existence of the supposed European country of Belgium has been taken as gospel for years by members of the Liberati. It has long been held up as a shining example of Liberal philosophies in action. However, now is the time the truth be known. Belgium doesn’t exist… I ,like you, were shocked to discover this. I can only hope that more people will see through the hoax and right the wrong that is the hoax of Belgium. BTW, don’t miss the shocking truth about the moon (it’s a fake no matter what your eyes tell you) and "Wisconsin: The Innocent State That Isn’t". A local labor standards inspection office has designated the death of a Japanese fisherman shot dead by Russia near a chain of disputed islands as a government work-related accident, and has started paying his bereaved family a pension, it has been learned. Britain’s Channel 4 has just announced the second season schedule for The IT Crowd, the geeky sitcom that rocked my socks when it debuted last season. They’ve posted some video of creator Graham Linehan (who also created the brilliant sitcom Father Ted) talking about the second season — but they’ve region-locked it so I have no idea what it’s like. Boy, that’s dumb. I thought that it was dumb to region-lock the web-previews of the show last season, but they supposedly had to do this due to their territorial deals — but surely there’s no territorial deal on Graham talking about the show. Someone put this on the Pirate Bay, please. [via boingboing and lonelocust] Filed under: Cool Comments: None |

Least anyone even dare to think that traditional animation is dead… This is a neat music video, called Ankle Injuries, from the English band Fujiya & Miyagi, where the "ASCII"-styled animation was done with hundreds and hundreds of dice. This animation must have taken forever to finish! I wonder if they shot the bottom of the dice through a sheet of glass to make it easier to keep things clean and to move the dice around. The tune is darn catchy too, I’m going to have to get some of their music. Filed under: Artistic and Cool and Photography Comments: 2 Comments |

If I’m asked what kind of book I like to read my answer is

What a great idea. I know from personal experience that there is nothing like getting a delicious can of hot chocolate from a machine next to a train station on a cold winter night. Being able to buy noodles the same way would be like heaven…
Talk about rough work conditions…
This is a rather unusual application of magnetic principals. The nail polish is applied in a normal way but before you let it dry you hold the magnet (included with the bottle) over the wet polish and let the magnetic particles that are suspended in the pigment arrange themselves. When the lacquer dries the metallic particles are frozen in place and you get some clever patterns. I’m not a user of nail polish myself but I bet I could think of some science projects that this stuff would be good for.
Oh boy, this is a good day!
