Sasquatch Hair?

bigfoot

A laboratory will test hair samples that several residents of Teslin, Yukon, say were left when the large, but so-far mythological creature made a late-night run through their community in early July.

I like the ‘sort of a wildlife CSI’ remark down towards the end of the story. I’m quite sure that if the hair turns out to be from a dog or a bear the true believers will just say that there was a cover up, the samples were tainted or that there was a mix up in the lab.

More News From The Workers Paradise

Homebrew boat

I know, I know, this is old news but I think people should be reminded just what a great place Cuba is. Oh wait, if it was such a great place people wouldn’t be building boats out of cars and trying to sail them to the United States.

A vintage blue taxicab converted into a seagoing vessel and carrying several Cuban immigrants was intercepted Tuesday off Key West by the Coast Guard, a television station reported.

Shuttle Flight Scrubbed

STS-114

Todays flight of STS-114 has be postponed due to one of the four low level fuel cut-off sensors in the main tank giving a faulty reading. These sensors monitor the level of hydrogen in the tanks so the motors will not run dry and be damaged if the burn is longer than expected. The crew is being unloaded and taken via the crew van to astronauts crew quarters and the ground crews are beginning the de-tanking process of the onboard cryogenics. The flight ops team will be assessing the problem and resetting the schedule accordingly. They will be having a press conference at apx. 4pm EST to discuss the events of the day. The chance for a flight tomorrow is very low as weather is going to be a major issue, todays launch had a 60% chance of being scrubbed due to low visibility due to clouds. Maximum visibility is needed to ensure that all 107 ground and air born cameras can get a good view of the vehicle during the assent to verify that the tiles have not sustained any damage during launch. The launch window for docking with the ISS to preform the scheduled re-supply mission is approximately two weeks.

UPDATE: The launch has been pushed back until Saturday, July 16 at 2:40 p.m. EDT

A Greek Atlantis?

Island

Well, I guess if your looking for the lost cities of Atlantis the area around the Mediterranean is a good place to start.

An international congress devoted to the myth of the lost continent of Atlantis opened Monday on the Greek island of Milos, attended by seismologists, geologists, geographers, philosophers, historians and archaeologists from five existing continents.

Hey, I’d like to go to Milos, it looks like a nice place. I’ve always wanted to learn how to SCUBA dive and that looks like a nice place to learn. Plus, it would be quite a kick to find a lost city while I’m looking at fish.

Tree Circles in Russia?

Trees?

I think some highschool kids went on a three day bender and decided to mess with the heads of the locals. Or, maybe this is because of the space probe hitting comet Temple 1! Maybe the nutty astrologer in Russia was right afer all. Yeah, that’s the ticket…

Eyewitnesses of the phenomenon in the woods of the Khabarovsk region say that the incident reminded mysterious crop circles in the USA, although in Russia it occurred in the woods, not on a farm field. To crown it all, specialists found numerous dead birds there, presumably crows.

London Bombing

London Bombing

I woke up this morning to news that bombs had gone off in London England killing over 30 people and injuring hundreds. Right now after work I have C-SPAN feed of the British House of Commons and the British Home Secretary Charles Clarke is answering questions about what has happened. Every news source on the ‘net has the story leading the day’s news. It’s amazing what a few people can do in one senseless act of terror.
What would the world say if a nation decided to attack other countries by sneaking in bombs and randomly and without warning exploding them in civilian population centers? They would be condemned by the world. Why should this be any different? If your not going to be mature enough to start a stand up fight or if your not willing to get your ass handed to you on a platter, at least go into negotiations and come to an agreement on how your problems can be resolved. You may not get exactly what you want but you branded a terrorist and a killer. That is what a civilized person would do. If a nation pulled a stunt like this, well I’d say that their nation would fall in short order.
