I remember the plans for one in a Scientific American book but it was no where near 1-MeV!
I like the fact that the duo will be building a Farnsworth Fusor next, I expect that they will have some very positive results with it.

Good news for causality, bad news for sci fi fans!
PhysicsWeb – News – Good news for causality (November 2004)
“… plotted counts against the time-of-arrival of the photons (see figure). Using this graph, they calculated a mean group velocity that was 1.76 times the speed of light in vacuum. More importantly, they measured the signal velocity for the first time and showed that the increase in the group velocity does not increase the speed at which information travels.”
Sad news for sci-fi fans who might have misunderstood the implications of “faster than light” physics experiments.

Uhh, your cell phone is departing at gate two…
Miniature jet engines could power cellphone
I think that something like this would be handy for camping or something. Its a pity, a device like this on a laptop would be killer on a long flight.

Antimatter weapons?
Antimatter weapons?
Woah…
“…1 gram of antimatter, about 1/25th of an ounce, would equal “23 space shuttle fuel tanks of energy.” Thus “positron energy conversion,” as he called it, would be a “revolutionary energy source” of interest to those who wage war”
Quite a sobering thought.
