Lovely, looks like if you have a camera (still or video) that uses a Sony CCD it my be susceptible to moisture leaking into the sensor and messing up the images.

Dr. Mabuse
A few nights ago I happened to see an old B&W German film by Fritz Lang called “Testament of Dr. Mabuse”. It was fantastic! I have long been a fan of German expressionism in films like ‘Metropolis’ and ‘The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari’, the use of light and shadow in these films is just breathtaking.
The story behind Marbuse is one of a sinister and pure evil man bent on social destruction and chaos. He’s not like an evil genius of today where he has some major character flaw or he ultimately wants money or power. Marbuse wants chaos and anarchy. Ordering his men to steal a quarter million Marks worth of gems and jewels in order to buy as many narcotics is one thing. But to also order that the drugs be given away for free to anyone that wants them and thus hooking more of the population is just pure evil.
If you want to own a copy of this great film, pick up the Criterion release. It’s going to be well worth it.

Ell Ell: Mystery Archive
I know it’s in Japanese – hey, I’m giving you a link to a translated version, what more do you want?
The ‘Ell Ell: Mystery Archive’ is chock full of weird and bizarre stuff that quite frankly I have never seen elsewhere. So far all the links have been to English sites so if you work off from the Japanese page you can still go after the good stuff by clicking on the stories with the interesting pictures.
CD Sextant
This is by far one one the more impressive DIY projects that I have seen of late. Normaly a sextant is an expencive and very precice instrument but with a CD case, some LEGO bricks and a few mirrors you can build one. I don’t think you wan’t to use it to sail around the world but you could ( by the way you had better be an ace at celestrial navigation before you start Mister!)
Anyway, the project is simple enough that you could build it in a weekend. It would be fun to take out on trips and ‘shoot the sun’ and try to figure out where you are on this big ‘ol sphere we call home.

Doraemon Watch
Very cool watch, and is also a data storage device. Storage is 64MB and 128MB – but needs to be at least 1 GB before it would be practical for me personaly.
You can get them in either silver or blackand has a nifty blue LED at 9 o’clock to show when the data hs on the move. Cost should be about $190US.
LEGO Pinhole Camera With Instructions
Very clever project. He built himself a pinhole camera out of LEGO bricks. It uses 120 roll film and sports a film counter! I might use that in my next pinhole camera myself…
