Ballmer: We need a $100 PC
I think Ballmer needs a reality check, that’s what I think. If he thinks that someone in Thailand will buy a USD$100 PC and then fork over USD$300 for a copy of non-crippled Office he is living in some strange land where relaity takes a back seat to market logic. I’ll tell you exactly what they will do. The PC will be bought and then fitted out with pirated software that costs the buyer only USD$5 a CD. The money that could have been spent on a legal copy of that software will be then spent on non-Microsoft things like food, rent, clothing etc… Come on Ballmer, the average income in a place like Thailand is about USD$7,400! That would make your full version of Office equilivent to $1400 in the US dollars.

New York Bound
I’m off to New York tonight to visit my wife over the holiday weekend. I’ve been looking forward to this for some time now, for more than the obvious reasons! Plans are to visit the Apple store in Soho (no doubt so Tum can watch me drool over all the cool computers 🙂 ) and visit a few toy shops that specialize in Japanese toys. Lots of good Thai and Japanese food is also on the list of things to do. Yum!
I should have a boat load of photos to post after this as well. I am taking my Horizon 202 and some black and white film with along with my Nikon 4500. I have been wanting to get back into developing B&W for a while now, scanning the negs should be easy (I hope!).
Well, off to take a nap. My flight is at 11:30 pm and I hope to get some sleep but I doubt I will.
