New York Underground

If your like me you grew up reading amazingly illustrated books like ‘Underground‘ so you have a sense of what is under foot when your walking around in your city. For those that might have missed the insight that those books might have brought you, there is the National Geographic’s version for what is under a New York city street (no, not ill favored mobsters!) The scale of underground construction in that place is stunning. Just knowing that when your in a subway there is a maze of pipes and conduits all around you is awe inspiring.

Aeonic LED Lamp

Aeonic LED lamp
From the guys that bring you hand cranked radios and super shortwave sets, C.Crane gives you the Aeonic LED lamp. The 20 high efficiency white LEDs consume 1-2 W of energy. Perfect for use in a motor home or next to your bed.
I love the idea of using LED for home illumination, soft light, pretty much any color you want, make little heat and consume small quantities of electricity.

Lorem Ipsum

Lorem Ipsum

That seemingly fake gibberish that you find as a placeholder in documents isn’t just gibberish after all. With roots as far back at the 1500’s it has enjoyed a permanent place in the world of typesetting.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

I bet you never knew that did you.

Reactive Aquarium Visualy Responds to Fish

First the fish bot and now this? Is the next thing to come a blimp flown by a fish?

"A device that explores the many aspects of biosonic and infrasonic sound. Video capture from outside the tank is combined with the data from flow sensors inside the tank (measuring currents caused by the fish’s swimming patterns). These inputs are combined to create audio and video output. Bae (the designer) suggests that, "even if the fish can’t speak and express its feelings in a human way, it has an energy and communication skill in its own way. Vibration is the medium of interaction, and I chose it for its universality in the physical, emotional, and spiritual realms."

Personally I’m happy to know that I can now get Winamp visualizations for my aquarium.
