  1. Getting tax payers to approve transit systems is hard because of the cost-benefit. A lot of new light-rail systems are being approved because of higher gas prices, but they use too much energy, which will require new coal/nuclear sources to be built. Small-vehicle systems like SkyWeb Express are efficient enough to use renewable energy (about 600 BTU per passenger-mile, versus several thousand BTU for most other transportation modes).

    Once the ULTra system is installed at Heathrow Airport, we’ll have a much better idea of the cost-benefit.
