A good idea, but I doubt any city would be willing to build one of these. It’s hard enough getting the tax payers to approve any mass transit system at all.

Getting tax payers to approve transit systems is hard because of the cost-benefit. A lot of new light-rail systems are being approved because of higher gas prices, but they use too much energy, which will require new coal/nuclear sources to be built. Small-vehicle systems like SkyWeb Express are efficient enough to use renewable energy (about 600 BTU per passenger-mile, versus several thousand BTU for most other transportation modes).
Once the ULTra system is installed at Heathrow Airport, we’ll have a much better idea of the cost-benefit.
