Yikes! 500GB of storage on one drive? Talk about all your eggs being in one basket. Might as well buy two so you can mirror them. Thats at least some basic data loss protection.
Re-Use A Cell Phone Display
Oops! I forgot one. I have a few old cell phones that this might work on. I also see gobs of them in second hand stores for less than $5 each all the time. One of these might make a good display on a robot if you can drive it.

Lets all raise our glasses in a toast to this brave brave man, he removed the hard drive in his Mac Mini and installed a 4GB microdrive and adapter as well as three LiIon batteries to give him a self powered mini! It runs for over an hour and even better, it runs Linux.
