Ultra-Rapid Charging Li-Ion Battery

Yow! A battery that will recharg to 80% in 60 seconds? Very cool.
My friend Greg mentioned a super capacitor that uses nanoparticles to pack in the joules. These rapid charge lithium ion batteries use the same idea. Look for them in 2006. I hope that they can up the discharge rate and get these in R/C planes.

Micro-VNC On A Phone

Cool, with this I could set my DRV up to record no matter where in the country (world?) I was. Will it ever come to America? I hope so.

KDDI and Hitachi Systems and Services have teamed up for a project called “micro-VNC,” allowing for VNC from a mobile phone. The system supports Windows, Mac and Linux machines. KDDI and Hitachi Systems and Services announced that they have begun sale of “micro-VNC,” an enterprise-level solution for controlling remote PCs by way of au cellular phone

The Rasterbator

Have you ever looked at one of your (many) blank walls in your apartment and thought “Gee, I’d like to put up a huge picture of my cat up on that blank wall…”. Well look no more! Introducing the Rasterbator!

Have you ever looked at one of your (many) blank walls in your apartment and thought “Gee, I’d like to put up a huge picture of my cat up on that blank wall…”. Well look no more! Introducing the Rasterbator! Thats right, now you can have an image blown up to 20 meters in length (thats 65-1/2 feet to you and me)!
Go have a look and print yourself up a storm (or a cat, a babe from the ‘net, your kids, etc…)

Expo ’05 Pictures

Expo 05
Now until September there in the world expo going on in Achi Japan. Here are a few glimpses of what has been going on. (If you click on an image on the translated page you may get an error page in Japanese. To avoid this, open the picture link in another tab and use that to view the images)
I’d go there in a second if I could get someone to pay my way, anyone looking for a photojournalist to cover the event? 🙂

Nuclear Laptop

Oh yeah! Sign me up! I wan’t an alarm clock that will never ever run out of power even if the city grid is down for a year. Oh yeah, and a loptop that will run for days, that would be cool too. BTW, the latest copy of MobilePC has something on this subject in it… but remember that it’s the April issue.

SD to IDE adapter

I don’t see Linux being a good use for this unless you have a small hard drive free system that you need a rewriteable filesystem. It would be handy for a remote device, like a balloon payload or something like that. Pretty neat

If you have spare SD cards lying around your house, why not employ them for something useful? This SD to IDE adapter allows your PC to recognize SD cards as though they were a hard drive. Since this works at the BIOS level, you can even boot directly from SD. Wouldn’t it be more convenient to update your Linux Live CD on an SD card instead of having to rewrite a CD over and over again?
