My friend Greg mentioned a super capacitor that uses nanoparticles to pack in the joules. These rapid charge lithium ion batteries use the same idea. Look for them in 2006. I hope that they can up the discharge rate and get these in R/C planes.

German electronics company Kleinhenz is selling their new network-enabled Linux system that is about the size of a standard RJ-45 jack. These suckers are tiny! Hardly enough room to print the name and MAC address on it. It includes a built in Linux based OS, RJ-45 Ethernet jack, 8MB of Flash memory and the all important blinking LEDs! These look nifty. You can program the display from a PC so you can make signs or as you can see little animations show up on your enclosed spinning globe. Is’nt persistance of vision wonderful? I wonder if anyone will do an open source version. With LEDs costing so little and microcontrollers being easy to program these could be a fun little project. I hope to see this in MAKE soon.

A very good idea, I hope these can be used to save lives of personal in battle. Just remember to still be able to slip a finger under it when it’s used.
