Fossett to Fly Non-Stop Around the World!

GlobalFlyer
I wish Fossett the best of luck in his attempt.

Millionaire adventurer Steve Fossett was the first person to circle the globe solo in a hot-air balloon. Now, he wants to make the trip in a single-engine airplane without stopping – another aviation first.

Using air to charge cellphones? IIT-Delhi does it!

I hope I can buy one of these soon, it would be pretty handy. Actually what I’d want is a device to recharge my PDA. I doubt that the turbine or the magneto would put out enough current/voltage to charge the LiIon pack in my Viewsonic V-36. I can’t tell you how many times I have been reading it and all of a sudden the low battery warning pops up. If I don’t shut it down ASAP the memory will corrupt. Its a dumb design, but then again it was less than $200US..

I-O Data

This is a brand that you see all over the place in Japan and hardly anywhere else. But a few months ago I noticed that Fry’s was selling a CD-R/W that had the I-O Data name on it. It looks like they are reaching out into the US parts market. Good for them! . I for one hope they start offering more Japanese only items like the USB Gundam memory sticks. I bought a pair of LCD shutter glasses from a SoftMap store that was from this company. They were mega cool to use when I was viewing my stereo photos. I should hook that up again…

About the only thing they won’t tell you if how much you have to plonk down to connect through the hotspot. (I can’t wait until this stuff gets cheaper, $20.00 a month is insane…)

High Power Supercapacitors From Carbon Nanotubes

Mumm.. I’ll take a dozen please. I have wanted to build a super small exploding wire device for some time now, this should do the trick.

Supercapacitors are electrical storage devices that can deliver a huge amount of energy in a short time
