Precognitive Cell Phones

I’d actually thought up this technology myself and described the possibilities to my wife. The next step would be to have GPS in the phone so location recording was automatic. I’d want my phone to give me advice on best driving routes based on day of week and times. It would also be nice to know if it was a weekend and you happened to be in the same part of town as your friends.

IKEA

Last week, the latest incarnation of the Swedish mega store Ikea opened here in the metro area. I visitied it on Wednesday and found the store to be impressive. Its big, big as any Target and verging on Costco size. The second floor adds a gob of floor space. The selection of stuff is nice, just about everything the young trend followers need to look the part can be had there.
I’ll be buying a bed and a few other things from there once I have a better place, right now I have hardly enough area for all the old non Ikea things I have. IKEA!

Like all good games, this one has a walkthrough that will let you go right to the boss and get the dresser and bath set of your dreams:

U.S. Airborne Laser Advances to ‘First Light’

I’m not sure how good the lasers are for the intended purpose, but they’ve got to be impressive. Gas dynamic lasers essentially deliver a fraction of the energy of a rocket engine as a directed energy beam. Very Death-Star-ish.

“…It includes breakthrough optics designed to focus a basketball-sized spot of heat on a missile’s skin to rupture it up to hundreds of miles away.”
