Self Correcting Robots

Maybe this sort of thing can be adapted into technology that will let cars drive themselves.

The robots come in two colors, yellow (Y) and green (G), and float around on a cushion of air. Each robot is programmed to latch onto a green robot on one side and a yellow robot on the other to form 5-robot strings such as YGGYY or GYYGG.

Synergy – The Soft KVM

Synergy

Wow! I saw this on CommandN yesterday and figured I’d give it a try. I have to report that I’m impressed with the software. The basic jist of it is that you use one keyboard and mouse between two computers. Works like a charm! I can even cut text from one computer to the other PC, a very handy thing while I sit here and toil away at the blog.
You should go download it and try it out. Next step is to try it on my Mac.

Space Travel via Gravity Tunnel

SmallTug

This is great news, if the fuel cost of going between points in our solar system can be reduced there should be a greater incentive to commercialize it.

ANDREWS SPACE OF SEATTLE has awarded SpaceDev a contract to design a small spacecraft to travel through a gravity tunnel – part of the InterPlanetary Superhighway or IPS, a route that eats up less fuel than normal trajectories – to the moon, for the very first time ever.

The SpaceDev web site also has a lunar lander program that you can try out if your running Windows. Looks ok, think of the classic lunar lander game but with 3D graphics.

USB Xmas Lights

Oh look, more stuff to suck power off your USB port. If your monitor is just not looking as festive as it should chuck a few strings of these have party it up. Ever wonder what is going to happen when the computer light craze ends? Will there be truckloads of these being send to landfills worlwide, or will they be torn apart and reused in third world countries as track lighting… Man, I feel green today, I better burn a tire and get back to normal.
The guys at geeks.com always have cool crap for sale and some useful tech tips for those in need of a little bit of help.
