Beginner’s Bible Coloring Book! on Flickr

My old friend posted this to Flickr account recently. Damn, that guy has talent. I can’t wait to see the page on how Noah kept the dinoasurs from eating all the other critters on the ark. Pure joy!

Dad, did dinosaurs really exist?
Sure they did, son. The Bible says so. They didn’t call them "dinosaurs" back then, but instead they were known as "leviathans" or "behemoths".
But, my science teacher says dinosaurs lived millions of years ago. Is that true?
Of course not, son.

RFID Stapler, Office Products of the Beast?

RFID staplesLooks like a fine idea to me, I’d love to be able to sweep a scanner over a stack of papers and find out if a lost report is in it. Oh yeah, don’t let the title of the post fool you. That ‘xxx of the Beast‘ crap is for silly ninnies that don’t want the trains to run on time and like constant turmoil caused by the stupid notion of what happens to you after you die. I just figure that by using it in a title it’s a good way to get noticed. Note to all my friends that believe in that sort of thing, sorry to exploit your beliefs but why shouldn’t I  when it’s so darn easy?
Anyway, the RFID enabled staples are something that I’d buy now if I could. I’d staple everything. Papers, boxes, books, you name it! I’d never lose anything ever again. Ah, bliss! However, if I did have a cool high tech trackable stapler I’d more than likely invest on one of these fine DataSafe Security Wallets. It’s best to play it safe now and again, don’t you think? In the mean time I think I might have a closer look at this nifty RFID Experimentation kit I saw over on MAKE.  Think about it, how cool would it be to run a scanner over a sealed box of books and then be able to tell exactly whats in side of it? Anyone with a closet full of stuff will appreciate this I’m sure.

Is This The Tomb of Jesus?

Looks like mega director James Cameron is stirring up the muck with his latest project. Seems he found the Jesus family tomb. And bones. And evidence that Jesus had a wife and kids. Yeah, that’s going to give some people a brain ache. It must be a bit like finding out that Star Wars is all blue screen and  miniatures…
So will Cameron’s next film be, if they can get DNA out of the bones, a new twist on the film ‘The Boys From Brazil‘? You decide, go have a look at the article of you can wait an see the documentary on the Discovery channel.

DIY Underwater Rocket Launcher

You know, nothing says ‘Fourth of July’ like rockets shooting out of the pool!

Joe Peck has extended the pursuit of realism in model rocketry to the launch environment. Think Poseidon here — this rocket launches from underwater. Initially, it’s sealed watertight from nose to nozzle. Ignition is triggered by bringing a magnet close to a sensor contained in the upper section. The motor ignites, blowing off the bottom end cap and we have liftoff! If you’re into model rocketry, here’s your next challenge.

Minuteman III Launch On Wednesday

This is of interest if you are in southern California or, if people are lucky, in Arizona.

For the first time in years, the countdown for a Minuteman 3 missile test will include blasting open the 106-ton silo door at Vandenberg Air Force Base.
The year’s first liftoff from the Central Coast also marks a return of closed-door missile tests. It’s planned for 12:01 a.m. Wednesday from Launch Facility 10 on north Vandenberg. The launch window remains open until 6:01 a.m. to accommodate any delays from unfavorable weather or technical problems.

Opening the doors isn’t a small matter. There are four explosives that are fired to generate gas that flings the multi tone octagonal door open so the missile can be launched in seconds. Normally the tests launches are done when the door has been winched open slowly but in this case it’s the whole show. It should be quite a site if you can be close enough to see the base when it launches.
The test is of an unarmed re-entry vehicle to see how well the missile works using GPS based satellite navigation instead of radio transponders.

Fire Starting Flashlight

Now I can see why the British call them ‘torches’! A modded MagLite, some high power batteries and a projector bulb will get you one hell of a hot flashlight. WARNING! Do not use this to read books under the covers, that is unless you sleep on a stone slab and your sheets are made of asbestos.
