Damm Dirty Chimps!

Wow, people tend to forget that these creatures are wild animals.

Attack of the chimps
Yesterday, St. James and LaDonna Davis were kind enough to bring a birthday cake to their former chimpanzee Moe who has been living at an animal sanctuary in Caliente, California since he bit off a woman’s finger. Unfortunately, all hell broke loose while they were visiting with Moe. Buddy and Ollie, two chimpanzees in the adjoining cage, escaped and attacked the couple. The two chimps were shot and killed but not before they severed the man’s nose, foot, and testicles and dragged him down the road. Moe was not involved in the attack.

Apple Powermac LED Clock Hack

G5 Clock

The site has an image of a circuit board that looks to be pretty standard, I can see using these clocks for lots of projects…

Those punched holes in the front of the Apple G5 Powermac’s aluminum case just happen to be the perfect size to hold standard-issue LEDs. Swedish hacker Anders Lundberg built his own LED clock that fits right in the bottom, and I think it’s sort of swell.

Can you think how rad it would be if the entire front panel was one giant LED array?

Polymer Vision PV-QML5 Rollable Screen : Gizmodo

Looks like this could be the next big thing!

While it’s a bit of a “we’re not dead yet” press release, Polymer Vision has made enough progress with its rollable displays to have a product number, which is something. The 5-inch PV-QML5 has a QVGA resolution and has only four shades of gray at the moment, but they’re getting closer. Polymer Vision expects to be manufacturing products within the next two years, which means we should have good quality, affordable ones in about five.
