KFYI is a local AM talk radio (conservative) station that has, on occasion, had some very good local programming namely a little science fiction oriented show called “The Dragon Page”. Now, as with most things that are cool and out of the norm, it has been pulled from the air:
Yes fans, friends, and lovers of all things Michael & Evo. The powers-that-be at KFYI have given us the boot. (For being ‘too’ popular) Yes, you heard me right! Our ratings were too good for Sunday night and we unseated Matt Drudge from his lofty #1 spot. Now, since Matt sells more ad time than us poor lowly geeks, we’re out.
There are a couple other issues involved here, but that is the meat of the justification for dumping a very good show, (namely ours) to be replaced with a less popular show (namely a local girl that has no radio training).
We have become what is known in the industry as “an island”. We are so good at what we do (which is not political talk) that we detract from the shows stacked up against us and interrupt the flow of the lineup. It’s okay to have a niche show like ours on a conservative talk radio station as long as we do not get higher ratings than the shows around us. Unfortunately, we are too good for our own……. good?
Just wonderful. Even if your not in Phoenix and want to help find a new station for the DP, contact one of the following stations. Many stream their programming to the ‘net so you can still get it if it’s picked up again.
