Boot to XP From a USB Drive

Thumb drives

Booting your PC via a USB key drive into a cut down version of XP could have many uses. I might give this a go, it would be handy to have when I get people that have a bad virus/malware infection.

  1. Now, when I think of booting XP I think of booting to XP – not the limited BartPE environment. Booting BartPE to USB has been done before (see http://GoCoding.Com for PEtoUSB). Using a program to trim down a real XP install and boot it from USB.. that’d be cool. No dice here, sadly.
