Rocket Cam

rocket cam vid

Here is another great site with home made rockets and video cameras, two great tastes that go great together! 🙂
Not totally sure what type of camera they used but they put it under the nose where the chute would be deployed. This seems to reduce the amount of spin that has shown up on other rocket cameras. Its pretty cool, makes me want to go out and buy a rocket.

The Amazing Hackable Dog

i-Cybie

These are great toys. If you ever see one at a yard sale you should not hesitate to buy it ASAP. Not only is it a feat of engineering magic, it’s also hackable. The ICybie site is full of links to info on how to modify and program new cartridges to create personalities, make an RS-232 connection to your PC, and even write your own code in for it.
The grand bin of links and hacks!

Recycled Server Parts End Up On The Desktop

Today I was given two drive blanks for an IBM eServer, iSeries . Normally these would go right in the trash but I spotted an opportunity to build a handy orginizer for my far too cluttered desk. IKEA watch out!

  • The parts: Two IBM eServer, iSeries drive blanks (or like blanks) and four binder clips.
  • I used the 3/4″ binder clips because they sit flush around the corners of the blanks. Depending on the drive blanks you have you might need larger ones.
  • The blanks have a small plastic tab that needs to be removed. My handy clippers make short work of these.
  • Align your blanks how you want them. You could rotate them 90 degrees, whatever looks the best to you.
  • Put the binder clips in place and then remove the chrome bits, they get in the way. I don’t have a good use for these but I’m working on it.
  • Now fill it with all the stuff that you want to keep handy.
  • Fits in perfectly with any decor. In addition to keeping things handy, it will provide a stable base for my next pile of paperwork, my desk fills up with those pretty quick.

Send me comments if you build your own, make sure you tell me what server you got the blanks off from.

Make a DIY 3D Digicam

3d video

I must own two of these cameras! I could live with anaglyph stereo vision, I’d much rather have a lift and right image that you would use shutter glasses with but for the price its right. I like how the record buttons can be slaved together, with digital still cameras that can prove to be an annoying problem. I’m looking for a video clip of this, I have to see what the quality is like. I’ll post a link as soon as I find one.
