Godzilla Shaped Building Proposed for Tokyo

Godzilla shaped building proposed for TokyoI know it’s just a crazy idea but if there would be a city to build a structure like this in it would have to be Tokyo. Just to mess with the heads of drunk salarymen would be good enough reason for me. However, I think it should be taken farther. Build a Mothra in Yokohama, a Rodan in Sapporo, and a Ebirah in Osaka. Then you could go on a true tour of Monster Island! I visited the ‘Golden Godzilla‘ in Tokyo, I’m sure others have too, but it’s kind of small. This would be more like what you would expect of a city like Tokyo. Anyway, there is an elephant shaped building in Bangkok so there should be one of ‘Zilla in Japan.

Mard Recon Probe Spots Viking Landers

It’s the spot in the center. For an idea of the size of the lander take a look at this photo of Carl Sagan posing next to a one to one scale model of a Viking lander. The two bright points on either end must be the wind covers over the RTG and propellant tanks.

NASA’s Viking Lander 2 landed on Mars on Sept. 3, 1976, in Utopia Planitia. The lander, which has a diameter of about 3 meters (10 feet), has been precisely located in this image from the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment on NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. Also, likely locations have been found for the heat shield and back shell. The lander location has been confirmed by overlaying the lander-derived topographic contours on the high-resolution camera’s image, which provides an excellent match.

The camera on the probe is amazing, it was even able to capture pictures of Opportunity and Spirit as they were hanging out on the surface. I wonder if NASA will image the area where the Mars Polar Lander was lost so see what might be there.

See-Through Rims For Your Car

Radurra see-through rims

Holy crap! Very cool, two inch thick polycarbonate plastic slabs that take the place of the normal rims on a car. Motorcycles I can see this on, but cars? I’m not sure. Either way it’s a load better than those annoying spinner rims. I wonder if you could have clear rims with a gap in the center. Add fish and you would have the automotive equivalent of aquarium platform shoes. It’s an evil thought but someone had to be first (if you do this get fast fish!).

The Game Boy Camera Color Photography Project

Color pictures from a Game Boy camera Nothing like bending electronics to your will… Using three filters (red, green, blue) and three exposures from a standard (albet old) Nintendo Gameboy Camera a color image is born. I did the same thing years ago with a black and white Quickcam camera and three filters from a gel catalog pack. I’ll have to dig that up one day. Looks like develpoment has stalled on this project but it’s still a great read. Makes you think, don’t it?

Disappearing Civil Liberties Mug

Mug o rights

I’m glad I can live in a country where I can buy these, but then again I’m sad because I have reason to buy one…

Drink your decaf in this dazzling mug – and watch your civil liberties disappear and reappear! Simply pour in your coffee or any hot beverage and watch the painstaking work of the founding fathers vanish before your eyes and then reappear after drinking up or cooling down. A great way to amaze and entertain a guest with satire. Imported.
