Buy OSx86 Retail… in Bangkok

Hee, nice to see that I’ll still have a fun time looking (yes, just looking) at all the pirated software in Bangkok on my next visit.
Looks like the local boys have been quick to see a void and fill it by offering a ‘retail version’ of OSx86 for 300Baht (apx $7US). I bet they get a lot of pissed off people coming back telling the pirates that is dosen’t work on their computers. I wonder if they get a refund of store credit…

Earbud Clip

Clip for Earbuds

Well this is a higher tech than my binder clip solution I use. If you just can’t live with a black and chrome binder clip on your music player of choice – yes, I’m pretty sure that these will work on non-iPod players. Settle down in the back, such things exist you know. Live with it. (Silly Apple zealots…)
Looks handy and cheap, two things I like.

Apple Loves Ya, Now Go Consume!

Big shock everyone, Apple is a for profit company. And while your taking notes, they know their user base very very well… They make it, you want it whatever the price.
So that little iPod Nano that your drooling over may cost you $200 bucks ( thats almost 50 trips to Starbucks people!) from the local Apple store, it may only cost Apple (praise be thy name) less than half that. From a profit margin like that I’d say that Apple is going to be around for quite a while, little change of them running out of money any time soon.

Your $200 iPod nano costs about $90 to make

Bigger Shuffles Soon?

Bigger iPods?

Well if its not a screw up then Apple lawyers will not go hungry this month.
Larger Shuffles are inevitable. As flash storage drops in price the demand is going to keep going up – although I can see it topping out at 10GB just because transfer times. I wish that the interface wasn’t only USB 2. A Firewire 800 option would be nice.

Wouldn’t be the first time that a price comparison site has jumped the gun and accidentally revealed the existence of an unannounced new product (or screwed up and “announced” a product which doesn’t exist), but apparently some listings have turned up on Shopping.com for both a 2GB and a 4GB iPod shuffle. Neither listing includes any extra juiciness like a release date or pricing, but we’ve been hearing rumors about 2GB and 4GB iPod shuffles since May and supposedly Apple’s planning to announce a mess of new iPods at next month’s expo in Paris.

OS X on x86

Apple

I’ve founds a bunch of links on how to install the Apple OS X opperating system on a regular PC from from the MAKE blog and from Hackaday. I’m sure there are others out there but if your wondering what all the ruckus is about you can all the details there. Pretty much with some files downloaded from the ‘Net you can cajole a PC into running the developer version of Apple’s OS. Sounds pretty cool to me, except that I don’t think I own any hardware that would run it. I have mostly older Intel chips and what I have that is newer are AMD. I’ll have to do some reading and see if any would have a chance. Not that I’ll act on it, I simply don’t have time these days. Still, it is a cool idea. I have an Apple logo on my laptop’s cover and it would be pretty nifty to have the OS on it too.
