Thundercats!?!

Thundercats

Last night I was numbing my mind with some television programming when much to my shock a comercial for the 80’s cartoon series ‘Thundercats‘ popped up. Thundercats? The show with that annoying Snarf dude? Wow, I guess that what is old will be new again. I find it amazing that all these old shows are warming the hearts of the kids that grew up in the 80’s so much that people will fork over bucks to get them on DVD’s. The owners of all theses shows must be laughing all the way to the bank. For more info on this classic check out the link, buy it if you must but remember that your memory filters out a lot of the bad things in life.

Red Bull Flugtag Arizona 2006

Red Bull Flutag

Looks like there will be no shortage of crazy people here in Phoenix (ok, Tempe if your going to split hairs) this weekend. Loads of people will be trying to go the farthest off a ramp into a lake in their human powered flying machine. Leave all your science and physics behind, it’s not needed here. The stranger the better is the basic rule for this event.

More than 200 teams from around the country applied for the chance to launch into aviation history as a part of Red Bull Flugtag Arizona. After carefully reviewing the applications, 33 outstanding teams were selected to soar or swan dive into the Tempe Town Lake on April 29, 2006. “Flugtag” means “flying day” in German, but don’t expect to see anything resembling a plane on the flight deck – instead the skies above Tempe will be filled with a flying toilet, a trailer home, a giant taco, a flying fish and a Shaggin’ Waggin’…anyone remember Dumb & Dumber? That’s what we’re talking about people.

No Science For You!

This is quite sad. Another blow to amateur scientists everywhere:

The United States CPSC has initiated criminal legal action against us and other chemical suppliers. In short, the CPSC would like to ban the public from all access to chemicals. This would mean an end to hobbies such as model rocketry, pyrotechnics and of course chemistry. One by one, our freedoms are slowly being taken away from us – this action must be stopped now.

I suppose that in 15 years people in the US will look around themselves in their high security cities and wonder why all the equipment and technology is being sold to them by Chinese R&D labs. I suppose they won’t care because the call center jobs pay pretty well even if you do have to learn Mandarin to work there.

(There’s irony in there but the fedral government doesn’t want anyone to point it out.)

Asian Drinks Adventure Page

A few years ago a good friend of mine gave me a large pile of rather odd drinks from the local Asian market. So I figured that while I try to drink them I’d write down my first impressions and make some reviews. Most of these can be found in your local area is your look hard enough. I’ll be posting some new reviews soon, I’m off to Thailand in a little bit. I hope the ‘ol gullet is up to the local brews…
