Re-Use A Cell Phone Display

LCD

Oops! I forgot one. I have a few old cell phones that this might work on. I also see gobs of them in second hand stores for less than $5 each all the time. One of these might make a good display on a robot if you can drive it.

MAKE Link-a-Palooza!

Whee! Lazy link day. I should just cut and paste the entire MAKE site it’s just that good!
I’m still waiting for my copy to come in the mail. I saw it at Borders today and I’d a little worried that it might have become ‘lost’ somewhere. Anyone else having this problem?

FRRRRAAAAPPPP!

Ah, the good old Marx generator. These things are fun to build, just don’t let them bite you! Same can ge said about leyden jars I might add…

Build Music

Music projects are always fun to build. I wonder if I could attach one of these to my cell phone…

Photo Lab

I did the same thing for a bit less I think. B&W film is fun to develope at home, nowdays you just scan them and you don’t have to mess with an enlarger. I just wish I had a scanner with less scratched glass and some anti Newton ring surface to it so I could get sharper images.

Nukes In Spaaaace…

BOOM

Well, it was bound to happen. Someone needs to send some DVDs of the Japanese anime series ‘Planetes‘ to the guys that want to militarize space. Most of the junk up there just won’t go away and even a paint chip can ruin a space craft.

Air Force officials said the directive did not call for militarizing space. “The focus of the process is not putting weapons in space,” said Maj. Karen Finn, an Air Force spokeswoman. “The focus is having free access in space.”

The DREAD Weapon System

DREAD System

It would be less scary if it didn’t look like a mash up of a disk gun and the starship Enterprise.

No heat, no recoil, no sound, no gunpowder, no flash — just 120,000 rounds per minute of pulverizing power. The next generation of weapons systems has arrived: the DREAD centrifuge-powered weapon system.
