I finished selecting photos from my last New York trip. I managed to take some photos in Moma, a cool Japanese resturant called Kenka, and had a wonderful birthday dinner at my wifes place (her birthday, not mine). The subway art that we found at the 14th Street 8th Avenue station was a real treat, NYC is full of stull like that.

Neil Gaiman Naming Auction Benefits Comic Book Legal Defense Fund

It’s a clever idea, I hope it goes well. The CBLDF can use all the money it can get.

Neil Gaiman naming auction benefits Comic Book Legal Defense Fund
Neil Gaiman is auction off naming rights for a ship in his upcoming novel as a fundraiser for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.

Neil Gaiman writes: “I’ve got to name a currently unnamed cruise ship in Anansi Boys. I have no idea what to call it, and, a couple of days ago, realised that my utter lack of inspiration could do good things for the CBLDF. If you wish, you can bid to have the ship named after you, your loved one, your dog, or even your favourite word.”

All proceeds from this auction will benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that specializes in the defense of First Amendment related cases on behalf of comics authors and retailers.

Nuclear Laptop

Oh yeah! Sign me up! I wan’t an alarm clock that will never ever run out of power even if the city grid is down for a year. Oh yeah, and a loptop that will run for days, that would be cool too. BTW, the latest copy of MobilePC has something on this subject in it… but remember that it’s the April issue.

SD to IDE adapter

I don’t see Linux being a good use for this unless you have a small hard drive free system that you need a rewriteable filesystem. It would be handy for a remote device, like a balloon payload or something like that. Pretty neat

If you have spare SD cards lying around your house, why not employ them for something useful? This SD to IDE adapter allows your PC to recognize SD cards as though they were a hard drive. Since this works at the BIOS level, you can even boot directly from SD. Wouldn’t it be more convenient to update your Linux Live CD on an SD card instead of having to rewrite a CD over and over again?
