A very very clever idea. Goes to show you that all you need is a light proof box with a tiny hole in it and you have a camera.
Eclectic junk from the four corners of the ‘Net. And pictures too!

I saw some video of this in action and it kicks but. Seeing the critter roam around in guard mode is pretty cool. I suppose you could add an image stabalized camera on it for sending video back to a central location. The top of the robot moves quite a bit (it uses its top mounted battery pack as a counter balance, like balancing a broom on your finger) so any video you watched would make you kind of sea sick.

Well, It makes sense that a company has finally found a way to tap into the disposable market with a video camera. I have no doubts that there will soon be pages dedicated to hacking this device, and software written to be able to save the probable MPEG stream of video from the unit. More info can be found here

Once you put aside the fact that the ants are living in their food, its pretty neat. This has ‘Father’s Day’ gift all over it!
This miraculous gel, derived from a NASA Space experiment, serves as both habitat and nutrition for your ants – allowing you to watch in awe as they turn a brick of aqua-blue gel into a fascinating colony of tunnels. Never before have you been so capable of watching these awesome creatures at work.

I happened across this site while looking for info on the TV show UFO, man if you want to see the wholesale coonless that was UFO this is it. Gobs of screen grabs for everything from the Interceptors to SID. It even has photos of people drinking coffee, smoking, and fighting. A little obsessive but for a good cause.
(BTW, the site is in Japanese but you can figure it out.)

Very cool. I’ll have to build a few and have back yard wars with the kids. I say it’s just about perfect entertainment for a family outing. But that’s just me. 🙂
(BTW, this guy has a paper clock that you can build. Keeps time too!)
***UPDATE***
The paper trebuchet link is no more, I can’t find a copy of the plans anywhere of I’d be happy to post a link to them. While I was looking I did find enough cool trbuchet links to make a new post. Take a look at them here.
***YET ANOTHER UPDATE***
The Wayback Machine has the plans:
Build a paper trebuchet
(Lets hear it for Mr. Peabody and his amazing Wayback Machine and Matt C. from the MAKE blog for pointing it out.)
Due to a large number of requests, I have posted the trebuchet PDF files here. If there are any problems about me hosting them here please email me and I’ll remove them. Thanks and enjoy building!
